Home teaching

I am available to provide tutoring services for both special needs and typically developing preschoolers. Tutoring includes one-on-one instruction in your home as well as a detailed home visit review so you will be able to track your child’s progress. Feel free to contact me to set up a time!

Topics of instruction include:

Cognition: patterning, sequencing, counting using one-to-one correspondence, number and letter recognition, prepositions, size, quantity, shapes, colors

Language: receptive, expressive, articulation, fluency, grammar

Fine Motor: cutting, writing, stacking blocks, putting together puzzles, completing color, cut and paste projects, developing a functional grasp, hand strengthening activities, stringing beads

Gross Motor: balancing, walking up and down stairs while alternating feet, yoga, strengthening activities, throwing and catching balls

Self Help: Buttoning, zipping, washing hands, using utensils, dressing and undressing

Play Skills: sharing toys, reading social cues, using words to request toys and communicate with peers, taking turns, playing with toys appropriately, role playing, make believe play

Accommodations: pencil grips, slant boards, grips for utensils, bumpy cushions to improve attending skills, visual cues

All instruction is individualized. I am sensitive to those with processing delays and provide a longer wait time, I use simplified language with visual cues.

I am also available to meet with the parents/caregivers of the child to discuss helpful strategies to use at home concerning behavioral techniques, implementing potty training, and successful bedtime and eating routines.
